reclaimed bricks

A long standing relationship with a local builder has seen General Reclaimed Bricks supply a residential development in London's SW10 with over 16,000 reclaimed bricks. The renovation in Chelsea saw large rear extensions on two town houses to make way for further living space.

Toby Hunt, contract manager on the development site , commented, " General Reclaimed bricks made it easy for us by ensuring; deliveries were on time and all bricks supplied were of a high quality.

General Reclaimed Bricks take pride in supplying satisfied customers with reclaimed bricks throughout Surrey, London and the South East.

1. HOW ARE THE BRICKS PACKAGED AND DELIVERED?

All our reclaimed bricks are cleaned by hand using a brick hammer. Each individual brick is stacked onto a wooden pallet (approx. 1m x 1m). The finished pack then is wrapped with heavy duty polythene to provide stability in transport and cover from further weathering. The bricks can be delivered by the use of a mechanical off-load vehicle with the use of a crane grab or by hand for smaller deliveries. We will advise which method will be used prior to delivery of any goods. It is important that you make us aware of any roads which will restrict the size of vehicle we can deliver on.

2. HOW DO I KNOW HOW MANY TO ORDER?

If you are building a new property or large renovation, you will be able to use architect’s drawings and your builder should be able to estimate the quantity required. Another factor to take into account when ordering reclaimed bricks is the wastage. The very fact that these are reclaimed bricks means that not all bricks will be perfect and we suggest you make an allowance for 5% wastage. Creased and weathered faces, irregular edges and corners on reclaimed bricks are a large part of their character; the finished look is not to look perfect, but still perfected.

3. CAN I SEE THE BRICKS BEFORE I ORDER?

Not a problem what so ever, if you want to come and view the stock we hold at any given time simply call and arrange a time to meet. This way, if you wish to match bricks to an existing wall or piece of brickwork, or perhaps you just wanted to select a particular pallet or load you can do this firsthand.

4. DO THE BRICKS VARY MUCH IN COLOUR?

Sometimes, on the website, we try to give a good indication of the colours you will normally expect to see for a given product. If you see a brick that is just right for your project call us and we can tell you whether that brick is in stock. Reclaimed bricks can however be made to look different when they are built simply by the way they are laid by the builders, a variation on the face used can make for unique presentation.

5. WHY ARE THERE NO PRICES ON THE WEBSITE?

We quote every enquiry individually as with reclaimed bricks, the prices will vary sometimes seasonally, or if the bricks are extremely unique. Obviously scarcity and quality of bricks is considered when quoting an enquiry.

6. HOW QUICK CAN YOU DELIVER?

We pride ourselves on holding large stocks of the best quality of all the reclaimed bricks we offer at all times - this then enables us to deliver quickly and efficiently, and allows you to have peace of mind whenever you need reclaimed bricks. It is on rare occasion that we are not able to give delivery for next day provided we are made aware of an address before twelve o’clock.
